The ideal strategies for day or swing trading are similar. It is no longer viable to scalp intraday as the large lots are transacted on Dark Pool venues and retail has no access to that information until about 1 hour after market closes when the Dark Pools send their intraday orders to the Clearing Houses. Intraday trades who approach their trading with the viewpoint of a swing style run do better than those using news, or social media chatter, or guru recommendations.
